Hi, I’m Amie.

I join kids, teens, and young adults in rediscovering their (they’re) awesome!

There is Hope.

After graduate school, I fortuitously found myself delving into the post-graduate studies of Somatic Experiencing™, and Organic Intelligence™. The gifts of these modalities are many, and the work itself can best be described as a process of nervous system re-regulation.

Re-regulation results in feeling better without having “to do” things to feel better.

I bring this regulatory work into into my private practice where I have the honor of working with the bravest and most inspiring kids, teens, young adults, and their families. Together we engage in therapeutic play, body awareness, mindfulness, sensory integration, and dialogue.

Play is a child’s most natural way of communicating.

My career started in pediatric hospitals, joining with healthcare professionals around providing psychosocial support to patients and their families. This passion lives on through collaborating with hospitals and outpatient surgical centers that aren’t pediatric-specific facilities but where children receive medical care. The healthcare providers and I work together in shepherding subtle adjustments to their surgical units so that kids and teens are empowered by their medical experience rather than traumatized by it (and medical professionals get to feel even better about their incredibly important work!).

Learn to minimize pediatric distress in healthcare settings.

My workshops (more like “playshops”) allow me to share with other mental health practitioners what’s working so well in my private practice. The unique combination of modalities being utilized bring an ease and joy to the work, for clients and practitioners.

Bring greater ease into your clinical practice, and your clients’ lives, through the learning offered in my playshops.
I received my Master of Social Work from Springfield College and am a Graduate Social Worker, licensed by the State of Minnesota Board of Social Work. I hold post-graduate certifications as a Somatic Experiencing™ Practitioner and am an “Expert” in Organic Intelligence™ (where I’m also associate faculty). My home base is in the Twin Cities metro area where I live with my husband and two young boys (who happen to be my greatest teachers).
Let’s work together to find a new path to healing.

“What I can do is offer myself, wholehearted and present, to walk with [you] through the fear and the mess. That’s all any of us can do. That’s what we’re here for.”

– Shauna Niequist
